The Turning Point

A total of 27 residents benefited from our signature Inside Out Beauty Programme in 2017. Dianna and the team of volunteers did a good job in delivering the lessons in an interactive manner as it helps to engage the residents in deeper learning.

Let’s hear what the residents have to say:

” I have learned to deal with guilt and what guilt can do to us” – Resident A

” I have learned that it is important to communicate with others with the right attitude”  – Resident B

” Do not run away from our past, I have to face it” – Resident C

” The topic on self-awareness has helped me to understand myself better” – Resident D

” I have learned that it is important to accept myself” – Resident E

What do they like best about the training?

“It is interactive!” – Resident A

” I enjoy the life testimonies!” – Resident B

During one of the lessons, the residents had a chance to experience being a jewellery designer for a day where they get to create their own polymer clay jewellery. What an amazing fun-filled day of laughter and joy to witness on a sunny afternoon when you see their creativity at work. Nothing beats the joy of adorning your own masterpiece, the one and only piece in the world.

Changi Women’s Prison

It has been another rewarding year for GEM as we were able to impact 12 lives with our signature Inside Out Beauty Programme in CWP.  It is our mission to be part of the rehabilitative work to help the inmates to seek a better life during and after incarceration. We brought them on a journey of self-discovery and understanding how their beliefs are shaping their lives which includes decision making.

In one of the lessons, they were asked to draw an object to best represent themselves and out of that experience, they discovered more of themselves which is key to living a responsible life. It was encouraging to see them taking the courage to draw and share with the class. Many were uplifted and motivated to make changes and move on positively.
