The Turning Point

A total of 9 trainees attended the 2nd run of our training program at The Turning Point from 16 August – 4 October 2016.   Besides teaching life skills, our trainer Dianna and her group of volunteers set aside time each session to connect with the residents and to give them space to share and talk about their problems and experiences  and to encourage them. Work skills training for this batch of trainees included various skills taught by some of our volunteers which included flower arrangement, balloon sculpturing and moon cake baking.  The trainees had a very enriching experience learning and creating their very own masterpieces under the patient tutelage of our volunteer trainers.

What can be more satisfying than baking your very own moon cakes! Yummm…

The residents displaying their creativity and great work of arts!

Changi Women’s Prison

A team of trainers started the 1st run of Inside Out beauty with the inmates during June over 10 weeks covering lifeskills training and vocational training in the areas of nails painting. Many were thankful that we took time to come in to share life lessons with them. On the last day of the session, we taught them to fold dress/ shirt origami as one of the life lesson on dressing for success, in return, they used the origami to write words of appreciation to the trainers. What an amazing experience!

Currently, we have just completed our 2nd run of the session with 10 inmates managed by a team of trainers and volunteers. The inmates looked forward to each session as many claimed that they discover more of themselves and gained a deeper understanding of who they are. We are truly excited to be part of the life-changing journey and we hope these lessons can become an empowering experience for each one of them.
