About Us

  Our Story

GEM Ministry was founded by Mrs Lilian Tng in 2009. Born and bred here in Singapore, Lilian currently resides in Sydney, Australia.

Lilian works passionately to reach out to women in despair, hurting and emotionally wounded. She would fly in regularly to conduct workshops and speak in conferences organised for women, to minister to their emotional and psychological needs. She had also receive numerous calls and requests for help from young women who were struggling with challenges in their lives; as well as from distressed mothers with delinquent teenage daughters.

Moved by their plights, needs and cries for help, GEM New Start Centre (GEM NSC) was envisioned and formed in 2013 together with Mrs Caroline Kwan, her sister. It was to be a beacon of hope for these women and their respective families. Caroline serves fervently as Executive Chairman of GEM NSC; and empathetically, reaching out to women in need, as she had also experienced numerous life challenges as a young woman.

Since inception, GEM NSC has been faithfully and actively reaching out to female youths and women in need who suffered psychological distress arising from life’s trauma experienced, behavioural challenges as well as substances and process addictions.
